Dedicated student support
Your faculty and student success advisors will be with you every step of the way to celebrate your milestones with you and encourage your growth and success.
Student success advisor
From the start of your MSW program you are assigned a dedicated student success advisor who will serve as a point of contact for questions, concerns, and challenges that arise throughout your academic journey. This one-on-one relationship will provide support and confidence throughout your program. Your advisor will:
- Guide you through graduate school requirements and expectations
- Connect you with campus resources, services and support as needed
- Coach you through challenges that may impact your success
- Empower you to stay informed, organized and on track for graduation
- Advocate for you and help you navigate university processes and policies
Faculty advisor
You will also be mentored by a faculty advisor throughout your program. You’ll meet with your advisor to discuss your career interests, explore social work topics, and receive support to navigate the degree requirements and achieve success in the program.

University field placement support
Experiential learning near your community is one of the most exciting and rewarding aspects of earning your MSW degree. Your field experience is guided and directed by faculty in collaboration with your on-site field supervisor. Pacific will help you to secure field placement sites near your community that align with your career goals. Students are also welcome to research and provide site recommendations.

University of the Pacific offers career advising, help with writing your resume and cover letters, workshops on networking, practice interviews, and will help you connect with employers when you are ready.
