Dyane Medina, LCSW, JD, Visiting Assistant Clinical Professor in the social work program, brings extensive experience in medical social work, behavioral health, policy, and systems advocacy to her teaching and clinical practice. Her professional background includes hospital-based social work in emergency and acute care settings, child welfare practice in San Joaquin County, and public service as a former Stockton City Councilmember, where she advanced policies addressing community well-being, equity, and access to care. She has also played leadership roles in developing community partnerships and countywide initiatives addressing homelessness and access to services.

In addition to her clinical and policy work, Dyane is deeply committed to education, mentorship, and community wellness. She teaches graduate social work students with an emphasis on bridging policy, historical context, and real-world practice, empowering future social workers to engage thoughtfully in systems change. She also facilitates mental health workshops and support groups focused on wellness, healing, resilience, and psychoeducation.

In her spare time, Dyane enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and creating meaningful spaces for connection and healing.
