Amanda West, PhD, MSW, LCSW, is a behavioral health social worker and educator with more than two decades of direct clinical practice, program development, and administration in behavioral health settings. She serves as Chair and MSW Program Director at the University of the Pacific, where she works with other faculty in providing a clinically focused MSW program designed to prepare practitioners to work and serve others across the lifespan in under-resourced communities. 

Her professional background includes directing clinical teams, developing trauma-informed services, and advancing the use of evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, ACT, and TF-CBT in diverse practice settings. Throughout her scholarship and grant-funded projects she focuses on behavioral health, trauma, social work education, and workforce development, including studies of provider mental health stigma and innovations in behavioral health supports for health care workers. In both her teaching and scholarship, Amanda is committed to strengthening the behavioral health workforce and shaping social work education that is academically rigorous, practice-informed, and grounded in the realities of daily social work practice.

Education

Dr. West is originally from Denver, Colorado and received her master of social work degree from the University of Denver and her doctoral degree in social work from the University of Utah.
